		<description>Of course we&#039;ve discussed the electoral college before.  I personally think that its usefulness is often overestimated, and yet I will admit that I&#039;m tentative on that point.  However, I do think that allotting the votes by congressional district (as Nebraska and Maine? already do), with the state winner getting the two votes corresponding to the Senators, would be an elegant compromise.  I don&#039;t think that we&#039;ll see any reform of our current system without a major crisis on the level of the hypothetical mentioned in this article, which would unfortunately result in an overreaction, I&#039;m afraid.

It was nice to have a projected winner before Tuesday was over, though it might not have been so nice for folks in Alaska who were still voting when the race was declared.</description>
